When do you get this error?

This error generally occurs to people who use third-party tools or automation. There are some third-party tools that are not officially recognized by Instagram, so they are banned by the platform. Automation is also a banned feature that causes the account to automatically follow or like certain posts. These tools are used by companies and businesses to increase reach by automating fake accounts.

If you are suspected of using any of these unfair means, you can get this error. Sometimes Instagram’s algorithm wrongly accuses fair accounts of using these banned features. This can be due to liking pictures, commenting, and following people at a much faster pace than usual.

How to fix the error?

There is only one legit way to get rid of the error. You may find some scammers online promising to get your account for you. However, as mentioned in the Instagram guidelines, do not share your username and password with anyone. Just follow these steps:

1.     Fill the “My account has been deactivated” form

  • Hop on to your preferred browser and go to Google.
  • Search for “Instagram appeal form.”
  • Click on the first link, and a form will open up.
  • Fill in the necessary details.
  • In the “Please let us know why you’re appealing the decision to permanently deactivate this account” section, tell them about the issue in detail.

Now you may want to fill out as many forms as possible to attract attention to your case. However, this can result in an IP address ban which will make it impossible to use Instagram from that device. Instead, try to mention that your account loss is causing some business issues. Instagram’s support always prefers business accounts, as they are potential buyers for their advertisement plans.

2.     Verify yourself

As soon as you hit send, you will receive an automated mail from Instagram support looking for verification. If you somehow can’t find the mail, try checking your spam folder. Sometimes these emails get detected as spam by algorithms.

There will be a certain code mentioned in that mail. Write that code on a clean sheet of paper with your full name and Instagram username. Make sure the written code is clearly visible from afar. You will then need to click a picture of yourself holding the sheet with code written on it. There are some guidelines provided by Instagram that you’ll need to abide by:

  • Code and every other detail must be clearly visible with your entire face and both hands holding the sheet.
  • The account must contain a picture of you so that they can verify you as the owner of the account.
  • The picture must be well-lit and not dark at all.          

           

Once you have taken the photo, check its media type and make sure it’s JPEG. Open your email and reply to Instagram’s mail by adding the photo as an attachment.

3.     Then just wait

            This may be the most difficult part of the process. Instagram doesn’t tell you how much time it will take to review your form. It should take about 24 hours to 3 days, according to most users. However, this is not standard as some users have reported; reviews may take up to a week or even months to process.

The form is reviewed by an Instagram support officer, so the process isn’t automated and can take some time. Wait for 3 days and then try to send a follow-up mail. You can even try filling up the form again.
